Exploring Wellbeing through Chinese Medicine - Workshop

I think one of Chinese medicine's strengths is it teaches us how to use our own senses to better understand our health and needs.

Following a conversation last week, I have just seen again a large gent who reported that he is noticing how certain foods make him more sleepy, bloated, pessimistic and unenthusiastic. This learning is great, it is a discerning around restraint, of relinquishment, perhaps an unlearning. Onward leading learning is a little different. What enhances our feeling of optimism, alertness, motivation, a comfortable ease of body and mind. This is something we seek, want more of and deeply appreciate. Not just for ourselves, but for family, friends, work colleagues and more.

1. What is appropriate nourishment? Developing discernment of what nourishes us. Eating from tastes and colours, the qi (energy) of food.

2. What is appropriate exercise? Organ, gland, connective tissue strength and suppleness. Feeling and circulating qi.

3. What is appropriate rest/sleep? The refreshment of sleep and other activities that rest and refresh us. Including the fine arts of concentration and relaxation.

4. What is a life of greater ease and working with conflict and stress?

Starting May 1, 2013 for 4 Wednesday evenings, 7 - 9 pm. Open to all. Patients and friends, practitioners, interested medical professionals, and lay people, everyone is welcome. Lots of time for questions and answers, practical work and exploring good health together.
